At The Adventure Book, your privacy is very important. The Adventure Book respects your privacy and makes every effort to ensure that your data is treated confidentially and in accordance with the applicable privacy legislation. The Adventure Book is an organization with the aim to offer fun and high quality products for travel enthusiasts to enjoy and to inspire them to record the memories that are meaningful to them.

Data

First of all, a distinction must be made between personal data and special personal data. Personal data is data that says something about you and can identify you. Personal data includes: first and last name, date of birth, address, e-mail address, telephone number and citizen service number (BSN). Special personal data are data about race, religion, health and criminal history. At The Adventure Book, we do not, in principle, process any special data.

Use of the website: When you visit our website, you can use most of the functions of our website without your personal data being stored directly. However, we do use cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer, smartphone or tablet. By placing cookies we can remember certain data from you, for example preference settings. These preferences are not linked to name, address, e-mail, etc. With this information we want to improve your experience of our website and we want to provide you with relevant information about our services.

  • _git : This cookie stores a unique value for each page visited, the retention period is 1 day.

  • _ga : This cookie is used to identify a unique website visitor, the website visitor is given a randomly generated number. This cookie is mainly used to calculate visitor and session data for the analytics reports. The retention period of this cookie is 2 years.

  • NID : Google maps shows the exact location of The Adventure Book on the contact page . The retention period of this cookie is 6 months.

  • 1p_JAR : These cookies are used by Google to show appropriate advertisements on Google sites based on your recent searches. The retention period of this cookie is 1 month.

The Adventure Book uses Google Analytics on its website. The data collected by our cookies is stored on a server such as Google. We use an IP anonymizer to keep the information collected from you by the cookies confidential. In this way, the last part of your IP address is anonymized. The Adventure Book meets the requirements set by the Dutch Data Protection Authority. This implies that:

  • The Adventure Book has a processor agreement with Google

  • That the last octet of the IP address is hidden, we realize this through our IP anonymizer.

  • The Adventure Book has “data sharing” turned off

  • The Adventure Book does not use other services from Google combined with Google Analytics and cookies.

Fundamentals for Processing

The Adventure Book uses the personal data, among other things, for the implementation and handling of an agreement. The Adventure Book may also use your personal data because The Adventure Book has legitimate business interests to do so. These

interests include providing a good service, efficient internal operations, generating income, protecting financial interests and keeping customers informed of (new) products and services of The Adventure Book. The Adventure Book combines the data collected from its website and other sources to provide you with the best (online) experience and service. With your permission, The Adventure Book can send you information that is tailored to your personal preferences. Your

preferences are derived from the data you have left behind and/or combined with your clicking behavior on our websites.

The Adventure Book uses automated decision-making and/or profiling. For example, we use Facebook Pixel, API and LinkedIn insight tag. Facebook Pixel is a piece of code that we place on our website to learn more about our target group, so that we can offer you suitable Facebook advertisements. When you visit our website, you must indicate whether you agree with this method of data processing.

Retention period

• Basic data such as invoices must be kept for 7 years by law.
• Messages via social media or e- mail are in principle stored for 1 year, with the exception of data that is part of what has been agreed, for which a retention period of 7 years applies.

Security of data

With regard to the security of data, The Adventure Book works within the given legal frameworks, The Adventure Book will take appropriate, technical and organizational measures to protect the data against loss, theft or any form of unlawful processing. In the context of security, the following measures have been taken, among others:

  • Encryption of data;
  • Restricted access to The Adventure Book;
  • Treatment of data as confidential;
  • If it is necessary for the service (provided there is no alternative option), we strictly follow our protocol with regard to passwords and financial data;

Your rights

  • You have the right to inspect your data, if you want this, please let us know.
  • You have the right to rectification, if your data is incorrect or has changed, please inform us.
  • You have the right to submit a complaint, if you have a complaint about our working method with regard to GDPR (AVG), you can report this to the “autoriteit Persoonsgegevens” (AP). However, we appreciate it very much if you discover a "data leak" that you pass it on to us, in this way we can act quickly and adequately, of course we also comply with the reporting obligation (within 72 hours) of the personal data authority.
  • You are entitled to transfer if you as a customer/User decide to switch to another The Adventure Book than will be we transfer the data if desired.
  • You have the right to stop us from using your personal data. If you wish, we would be happy to receive a request by email.

Liability

This privacy statement only relates to the personal data The Adventure Book processes for the purpose of executing the agreement with you as a customer. The Adventure Book is in no way responsible or liable for the operation and content of websites or services provided by third parties.

Updates Privacy statement

This privacy statement can be amended or supplemented by The Adventure Book at any time. In this way, new legislation on the subject of personal data protection can be easily implemented. Furthermore, in this way we can keep our privacy statement in line with our business practice.

Identification

The Adventure Book can ask you for further identification with all your requests or questions. The Adventure Book does this to prevent us from providing information to the wrong person. The Adventure Book may therefore ask you to enclose a copy of your proof of identity. The copy will be properly destroyed after the question whether the request has been processed.

 

Terms

We aim to answer your questions and/or requests within one month. If the answer takes longer than a month, for example because of the complexity of the request, you will receive a message from The Adventure Book.
